Virginia Conference Looks at Inmate Reentry Issues

WTKR-TV (Norfolk, VA)

Rating: 5.00

Richmond is hosting a three-day conference that will examine ways to help former inmates stay out of prison after they're released.

The Virginia Out4Life re-entry conference begins Monday and continues through Wednesday at the Sheraton Park South Hotel.

Participants will discuss employment, addiction treatment and other issues.

Conference organizers say one of every three inmates released each year in Virginia returns to prison in three years. Local coalitions of businesses, social service and government agencies, and the faith community can help these inmates find jobs, housing, substance-abuse treatment and support to stay out of prison.
